Independence Prime At PHL Goes Live

Independence Prime At PHL Goes Live

Our friends over at OTG have launched another preflight Masterpiece and we are thrilled to have played a small part in building out Independence Prime. Our direct partner on this project was Daroff Design in Philadelphia. The design team started with a vision that truly captures Philadelphia. Let’s hear about how they accomplished that.

Custom Restaurant Construction Project @ PHL

At Independence Prime, located in Terminal B at the Philadelphia International Airport, the focal point is the kitchen and the woodwork. We started working with the design team over four months ago and were blown away by the vision these folks had for this venue.

At Interior Creations, we were contracted for most of the bar construction, seating, server stations and table tops for the patrons. Let’s start with the bar die and bar top.

The bar die was marine grade fire rated plywood construction with a stainless-steel interior liner. Ninety percent of the construction took place in our commercial millworking facility in Philadelphia by a highly talented team that are AWESOME. The Bar top was constructed from DuPont Corian. The engineering plans we were working with from the team at Daroff Designs were very explicit on overall dimensions, materials and electrical specifications for this kidney shaped design.

Bar Back Design and Buildout

We also tackled a Tilde shaped back bar and bottle display. This was a combination of wood, metal, LED light sheets and glass. All of the prewiring took place in our shop.

Bar Design and construction

We made the banquette seating from a combination of high grade materials finished with a polished wood veneer and Martin Brattrud upholstery. The iPad table tops had to allow for the technology, access to charging outlets and present an individualized experience that offered comfort and easy access. Caesarstone Quartz with custom metal knife edges were crafted for the counter space and custom-made steel bases for the seating were fabricated into cohesive units all in our shop.

For the two custom wait stands we built we also used this highly polished wood veneer but opted for DuPont Corian for the counter space because of the durability required is a fast paced server environment.

Airport Hospitality Contractors Working as a Team

From start to finish the project took us 12 weeks including the engineering design work for this project.
The results are spectacular. The team at OTG shared this photo and blog post on their website here >>.
